If we want to address unconscious biases, we need to:<\/p>

1. learn how they manifest<\/p>

2. share each others’s experiences<\/p>

3. acknowledging their effects, including the emotional ones<\/p>

4. actively train ourselves on recognizing when they manifest daily<\/p>

5. do not be judgemental – biases are mostly unintentional<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

It is a journey.<\/p>

It is emotionally, time and energy consuming committment.<\/p>

Raising awareness on unconscious biases is a key measure to counteract them..so, yes, trainings on unconscious biases are important!<\/p>

To be effective, unconscious bias trainings should not be<\/b>:<\/p>

–\u00a0 just a list of information\/numbers<\/p>

–\u00a0 one-side communication (trainer –> participants)<\/p>

–\u00a0 once in a while events –> a check on the to do list<\/p>

– proposed as the solution for everything, they are just a start!<\/p>

What they should be:<\/b><\/p>

– part of the bigger picture, with follow up trainings and planning<\/p>

– structured on culture of the workplace, target group, focus topic…<\/p>

– a place where people feel secure to share and reflect<\/p>

– informative on definitions, data<\/p>

– free of judgment<\/p>

I have seen participants to the workshops starting with scepticism and then opening up and recognizing the importance of reflecting together on these topics…<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
