I am Lorenza Alice, a scientist passionate about interdisciplinarity since very early on. I embraced the field of systems biology combining experimental work and mathematical modeling, fascinated by discussing the scientific finding from different perspectives!
Having different perspectives is key to enrich the understanding of scientific results and the same holds true for the workplace. By valuing diversity we can all enrich ourselves and our work!
Years of experience as equal opportunities and diversity officer at the German Cancer Research Center, the largest biomedical research center in Germany, have been essential to understand the complexity of equal opportunities. A truly enriching experience!
In my perspective, valuing diversity does not simply mean to work with colleagues of different nationalities, sexual orientation, religious beliefs…
Valuing diversity means to “see” the diversity of each of us by knowing it and learning to respect it! We can pave our way to embrace diversity through curiosity, awareness and respectful communication.
I truly believe we can all contribute to create a healthy and safe working environment, which is essential for our health and our work.
